Good Work Forum 2026

What Insights EPS Is Taking Away for the Future of Work

Good Work Forum: Insights and Takeaways

How is the world of work changing in Switzerland? What role do artificial intelligence, leadership, and new forms of collaboration play? The first Good Work Forum 2026 in the Aletsch Arena addressed these questions. Our CEO, Christian Schmid, was also in attendance.

The forum brought together 27 leaders from 20 companies with experts from business and academia. The goal was to develop concrete solutions for the future of work in Switzerland—solutions that are practical and cross-sectoral.

What was the focus of the Good Work Forum 2026?

A central theme of the forum was that companies not only create products and services for customers, but also jobs for their employees. It is precisely this work that should be designed with the same care as any other high-quality product.

Against this backdrop, the forum focused on the following current challenges facing companies:

Skills shortages

Artificial intelligence (AI)

Digitalization

New expectations for leadership

Flexible work models

Team collaboration

Participants did not discuss abstract future scenarios, but rather concrete questions from everyday business life:

  • How can AI reduce the workload on employees?

  • How is leadership changing as a result of new technologies?

  • How can companies remain attractive and productive?

  • How can teams take on more responsibility?

It became clear that good work isn’t created by technology alone, but through favorable conditions, trust, and effective collaboration.

Key takeaways from the forum

The discussions crystallized into four core principles of Good Work: humanity, responsibility, purpose, and belonging. They demonstrate that good work depends not only on processes and technologies, but above all on how people collaborate, take responsibility, and find direction in a shared goal.

AI Should Free Up Time for Better Leadership
A key point was the use of artificial intelligence for administrative tasks. The expected time savings should not simply lead to greater efficiency, but should be deliberately invested in leadership, communication, and collaboration. Christian Schmid sees this as an important approach for EPS as well: “AI will change the way we work. But what matters most is what we do with the time we save. For us at EPS, that means more opportunities for dialogue, better collaboration, and stronger customer relationships.”
Swiss SMEs Have Advantages
The forum particularly highlighted the strengths of Swiss SMEs: short decision-making processes, flexibility, and the ability to adapt quickly. These qualities are becoming increasingly important in a working world of growing complexity.
Collaboration Is Becoming More Important
The discussion also focused on how employees can be more closely involved in change processes. In the future, it will be crucial for companies to foster greater participation and to empower teams in a targeted manner. A defining guiding principle emerged from the discussions: Work is a Swiss quality product. This is not a slogan, but a standard. If Switzerland stands for quality, precision, and reliability, this standard should also be reflected in the way work is organized. In technology-oriented companies in particular, the way technical development and collaboration interlock will be crucial.

What does this mean for EPS?

Many of the topics addressed by the Good Work Forum are already a focus for EPS today:

  • the practical application of new technologies

  • the opportunity to contribute to the further development of EPS

  • close collaboration on projects

  • direct communication

  • flexible work styles

  • quick decision-making

  • workplace health

The forum confirmed that companies must not view technology in isolation. What remains crucial is how people work together and take on responsibility.

For EPS, this means specifically:

Technology must never be viewed in isolation. What matters most is how we, as an organization, work together, take responsibility, and collaboratively shape the future of technological development alongside economic success and good working conditions. After all, sustainable performance arises where humanity and progress go hand in hand.Form

The targeted use of AI is intended to support our employees and create more freedom. We consciously use the time saved for learning, personal development, stronger collaboration, and for health and resilience—not for additional workload or control.

This is how we ensure that new technologies create real added value without introducing unnecessary complexity or creating distance.

What’s Next?

The Good Work Forum is not intended to be a one-time event, but rather the starting point of a long-term learning and development process. The discussions from the forum will continue in practical labs over the coming months. There, companies and experts will develop concrete approaches for the future of work in Switzerland.

Topics to be explored in greater depth include, among others, the meaningful use of discretionary time through AI, new forms of participation, the design of human-AI interaction, spaces for collaboration and knowledge exchange, and the question of how organizational energy can be used as a leadership tool.

The insights gained from these efforts will form the basis for the planned “Good Work Switzerland” white paper, which is scheduled for release in late 2026.

The goal remains clear: a high-performing, people-centered, and sustainable world of work.
