Physiotherapist app for the VPT

The Physio Bandage in Pocket Format

The Physiotherapy Association (VPT) is the German association for the various professions in the field of physiotherapy. Its aim is to keep the professions of physiotherapy attractive and to enable the profession to have an efficient daily practice and work routine.

The app informs physiotherapists clearly and compactly about all important topics in the sector. The news section always keeps users up to date, whether it is about important health policy decisions, top events or one of the many other topics that are important for physios.

In addition, other helpful functions are available in a protected member area, such as downloads of contracts and other important documents.

The VPT has chosen EPS Software Engineering AG to implement this app.

Physiotherapist app for the VPT

We were able to support the Physiotherapy Association on the following points:

  • We brought with us many years of experience in the implementation of mobile apps
  • Thanks to our mobile app template, we already had a tried and tested basic framework with the most important functions of an app that we could build on
  • With the help of our EPS library set, we were able to implement important components easily and quickly

  • Mapping of VPT website content in the app
  • Central content management
  • Automatic synchronisation of ICD-10 codes
  • Member area
  • Survey integration
  • Push notifications for new events
  • Separate app backend with REST API
  • Placement of the app in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store
Physiotherapist app for the VPT

In order to improve the flow of information to physiotherapists and to offer their members additional benefits, the Association for Physiotherapy (VPT) decided to expand their communication channels with their own app.

EPS Software Engineering AG conducted a requirements analysis together with the VPT and developed a software architecture.

In order to cover as broad a user base as possible, the Multi-Platform App UI (MAUI) from Microsoft was used, which enables a common code base for the implementation of native apps for Android and iOS.

For the implementation, EPS Software Engineering AG was able to draw on tried and tested components of the EPS library set (e.g. user authentication of the member area, push notifications, logging, etc.) and many years of experience in the implementation of mobile apps.
For an efficient administration of the app and its contents, a separate backend was developed, via which the contents of the VPT website are accessed live. In addition, it enables the individual sending of push notifications on new events via a REST API, depending on the selected topics and regions of the app users. This backend is operated on Microsoft Azure.

To ensure that the ICD codes can also be accessed offline, they are stored locally on the mobile device and automatically synchronised with the online version when there are new developments.

With the automated build pipeline, unit tests are carried out for every change and new test and release versions can be created easily and quickly.

The app is available in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
